In a world where we’re constantly being told “less is more,” cannabis enthusiasts can breathe a sigh of relief, as studies are showing results that support the notion, “the more cannabis, the better.” In fact, there are many reasons why it’s a good idea to ingest more cannabis. It helps with relaxation, digestion, sleep, even anxiety and depression. While we’re sure no one needs an excuse to partake in a little extra indulgence, here are 10 reasons to smoke more cannabis.
1. Gene altering, cancer-killing
In 2013, the government funded a study to be conducted on rats to see how cannabis alters genes and risk factors for cancer. The results were groundbreaking. Researchers discovered that not only can THC inhibit tumor growth, it actually alters habitual users’ genes, making it more difficult for cancer or inflammatory diseases to strike.
2. Skin cancer
A 2013 study performed on mice, published in the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, showed that after 20 weeks of cannabinoid exposure the risk of skin cancer was reduced by as much as 90%. Due to the cannabinoids, the mice also showed inhibited and suppressed tumour growth.
3. No connection to lung cancer
For years, people have been concerned about cannabis use and its correlation to lung cancer. Ingesting anything, especially smoke, over an extended period of time can have serious effects on the human body, but some new studies are showing no correlation between cannabis use and lung cancer. Many studies have been conducted to test the effects of cannabis on body weight. But a recent study found the conclusive evidence we’ve all been waiting for. Surprisingly, considering many of us fall victim to the munchies on a daily basis, cannabis users actually have smaller waistlines than non-smokers. 6. Reducing suicide rates
Mark Anderson, a professor at Montana State University, studied two groups of suicidal men, ages 20 – 29 and 30 – 39, to discover how medical cannabis affected their decisions. After states began legalising medical cannabis, Anderson discovered that men ages 20 – 39, in states with legal medical cannabis, experienced an extreme reduction in suicide.

Cannabinoids are proving over and over again that they have the power to fight ageing in the brain. Acting as an antioxidant, cannabinoids help to protect neurones on a molecular level. They also increase stamina, making regular cannabis users young in mind, body and definitely soul.
8. Osteoarthritis treatment
Joint pain from degrading bones sounds absolutely unbearable. Luckily, new research is showing that cannabis can be used as an effective treatment for Osteoarthritis, helping to reduce inflammation and circulate blood flow. This new evidence comes as a great joy to many patients suffering from this debilitating condition, as no prescription drugs are currently available to help tame the disease.

Sativa strains are known for their ability to induce creative thinking, making them a great choice for artists, writers and musicians, who like to enjoy a buzz without the sleepy side effects of an indica.
