Growing marijuana in a wet humid climate is a completely different ballgame than what most growers face. Nevertheless, finishing quality buds in the pouring rain is not impossible for the selective, careful and attentive grower. Have you ever dealt with pounds of moldy weed? Plants soaked; buds mushy and trashed, covered with white/blue mold and black bud rot. Only to harvest and bring them inside to further multiply the problem.
Many growers feel it is impossible to produce buds worth any value in such wet weather. They will be stuck pulling plants well before they are finished flowering, and justify doing so by the bad weather. Early harvesting will produce shrunken yields and scrawny, undeveloped buds that are difficult to market.
It may come to you as a surprise that there are cannabis varieties adapted to wet conditions, and can even thrive in them!
Many types of marijuana have been bred in such humid and rainy environments for generations. Through this, the plants have built up a natural resistance to the climate, in order to make it through their flowering process long enough to mature seed.
Durban Poison is a 100% sativa inbred, never hybridized landrace originating from South Africa. Strong and hardy seeds and plant, exceptionally resistant to mold and disease. Flowering time is short for a sativa, 8 – 9 weeks which makes her suitable for all kinds of growers.
Durban Poison gets huge outdoors and reaps wonderful fat bud harvests, even in awful weather. Durban has been around since the 70’s and still competes in today’s market with her high quality buds.
Smells and tastes like a minty herbal spice, a Durban delicacy. Fast flowering time, impressive yields and outdoor resilience equals prime outdoor cash-cropper.

Colombian Gold is a legendary landrace sativa originating from the Santa Marta mountains of Colombia. This strain is a major foundation of all modern cannabis genetics, the infamous Skunk #1 seeds originating from Colombian Gold as well as countless others.
An original beaster, Colombian Gold comes from a high elevation and can handle harsh weather with strength. Mold and pest resistant. Colombian Gold seeds were used by Simon Bolivar as he traveled around the Amazon rainforest trading spices and medicinal plants with natives during his conquests.
Musky, spicy, fruity – Colombian Gold is a savory smell and smoke. Naturally titanic; don’t be surprised when harvesting multi-pound plants.
Thai landrace sativas grow larger than nearly any other strain, photosynthesizing into freaky gigantamongustrees. Ultimately mold resistant and long flowering, growing a Thai pure sativa is not for the faint of heart.
Many phenotypes of Thai seeds will not finish flowering until January. The general masses who try growing a Thai sativa can not wait that long (for various reasons), and end up harvesting the plant early – thus giving Thai strains a false reputation for scrawniness.
If finished correctly (which is challenging when outside a tropical/sub-tropical climate), seeds will evolve into arm-sized colas that droop down requiring staking. Thai has the potential to be the all-time heaviest yielding strain. Her fully finished buds are big, hard and competitive. The smell is unique to SE Asian sativa strains, often resembling rotten fruit and anise.
The offspring of two ganja plants with different genetics is called a hybrid.
Although plant genetics are not immediately stable breeding once a strain is hybridized, hybrid strains can have many advantages to the grower:
A hybrid can have the bud qualities of an indica while taking taking the bigger stature of a sativa. Often hybrids have what is called “hybrid vigor” and out-perform both of their predecessors in growth speed and yield while shortening the sativa flowering time.
Hybrids make up most of the genetic stock of cannabis nowadays. Nearly all popular modern strains are hybrid such as: Blue Dream, OG Kush, Diesel, Girl Scout Cookies, Trainwreck, White Widow, ect…
When searching for a suitable hybrid, always look at the parents. For best defense against wet humid climates, find strains that are bred from mold resistant or rainy climate landrace strains.
Well-bred hybrids made from landraces or hardy inbred strains most often perform better outdoors than the over-hybridized alternatives (however, there are some exceptions).

Northern Light produces a high level of THC alongside a medium level of CBD, making her high stoning, relaxing, and euphoric. These qualities make her an ideal smoke for the evening hours when unwinding after a day of work. Each toke of this strain is accompanied by flavours of sweetness, fruit, and spices.
Indoor plants grow to heights of 100–160cm and put out yields of around 500–550g/m². Outdoor plants grow taller to heights of 180–220cm, producing good yields of up to 625g per plant. Northern Light has a flowering time of 7–8 weeks, and outdoor plants will be ready for the axe in late September.

However, its branches are quite huge and filled with resinous flowers that need to install some support for its branches.
