Much has been written about marijuana over years-both good and bad. Between buzz about legalization, side effects and potential health benefits, and more, weed has been put right in the middle of the public eye. While cannabis might be more popular than ever with most people, there are still people out there with garbage opinions about weed.
During a campaign appearance for her mother’s presidential campaign last fall, Chelsea made the ridiculous statement that using cannabis can be fatal. What she specifically said is that cannabis mixed with other drugs causes the most fatalities because of “negative interactions.” Apparently she’s never seen what happens when you mix pills with booze, or cocaine with ecstasy. Her spokesperson later said that she “misspoke.”
Kevin Sabet of “Smart” Approaches to Marijuana (SAM) is even dumber and has even worse garbage opinions on weed than Chelsea Clinton. Sabet constantly claims that cannabis kills people and has gone as far as to compare the cannabis industry to the tobacco industry. When challenged on his views, he prefers to obfuscate and ignore, rather than present statistics proving his claims (probably because there aren’t any).
Nancy Grace used to be in the public eye a lot, when she was a host of Headline News and had her own show The Nancy Grace Show. A former prosecutor, Grace is known for having dumb opinions and reporting on the craziest, most gory, and generally messed up news stories in the news. She was reported on the Casey Anthony case and Michael Jackson’s criminal trial. Regarding cannabis legalization, she said that cannabis users tended to “stab each other” and “wipe out a whole family.” There’s a reason why many were glad to see the end of her show.
Current head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and perpetually sleepy former presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson was the first person who let me realize that you don’t have to be smart to be a brain surgeon. As you can imagine he has some pretty garbage opinions on weed. During a campaign event two years ago, when asked about recreational cannabis, Dr. Carson said “We already have enough people with low IQs.” May I remind you that Ben Carson once said that he believed the pyramids were used as grain silos?
Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter
Idaho’s Republican Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter is a pretty bad person all around, and he has especially garbage opinions about weed. Butch recently implored the Trump administration to crackdown on legal cannabis in the states surrounding Idaho. He claimed that Idaho was an “island of compliance” when it came to federal prohibition, and for that Idaho was “paying the price.” He sounds just like the kid who reminds the teacher that they forgot to assign homework. Luckily “Butch” is not running for reelection and the people of Idaho will have a chance to elect someone who sucks less than “Butch.”
Alex Jones is one of the most bizarre people ever. I really don’t know what goes on with that guy. He loves to shout about conspiracy theories, the New World Order, and the “globalists”, usually while turning red and removing his shirt. He also has said some pretty bizarre things about weed. He recently claimed that the cannabis we see today is dangerously potent. He also said that he smokes once a year to test the potency “like law enforcement does.” His show is pretty entertaining to watch while high.
No list of people with garbage opinions about weed would be complete without Jeff Sessions. AG Sessions has said some of the most inaccurate garbage things about cannabis, and now that guy runs the US Justice Department. Sessions has said that cannabis is only “slightly less awful” than heroin, that cannabis causes violence, and that “good people don’t smoke cannabis.”Sessions also has ties to the private prison industry, which surely influences a lot of his outdated beliefs about cannabis. He’s about as scummy as they come.
