Your goal is to produce the heaviest yield of buds, right? To be honest, there are tons of factors responsible for your yield – it’s not all about whether you choose an indica or sativa strain.
Genetics, nutrients, grow mediums, climate, and many other factors are responsible for determining the yield of your garden. However, the plant’s genetics are some of the first factors you can control when it comes to producing a bountiful crop of weed.
Chocolope is a marijuana strain that is 90% Sativa and has incredibly high yields with high levels of THC (19%) as well as CBD. They grow quite tall — up to 87 inches — but are nonetheless best grown indoors. The flavors found in Chocolope are earthy, woody, and coffee-like, and the resulting high is cerebral and creativity-stimulating. It is used in particular for migraines, but also for anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, and PMS.
Created as a blend of two infamous strains of weed, OG Kush and Critical Mass, this marijuana strain is known for its light and sweet flavor reminiscent of citrus. It also packs a punch with its strength and is one of the best indoor strains for yield and potency.
You do need to be careful growing Critical Kush outside – it’s not one of the highest yielding outdoor strains because it is prone to mold. The buds mold from the inside out rather than from the outside in, so it’s important that you create a setting where humidity can be closely regulated. Greenhouse or indoor growing is preferred, as is heavy feeding in order to ensure bountiful yields.
Amnesia Haze is a good all-around plant, given its medium size and its high yield. It is 80% Sativa in genetics and comes out with a high THC level (21%).
It is a relatively easy strain to grow for beginners, and although it reaches tall heights, it is not the monster size of other strains. It flowers in approximately 64 days, which is fairly average. It will hit you just ten to fifteen minutes after smoking and wears off relatively quickly, making it additionally ideal for many recreational smokers. It made people feel more social and uplifted in a cerebral way and works well for those who get migraines, nausea or suffer from depression or fear.
White Widow is easily one of the most popular strains of weed to grow – but it’s also prized as one of the highest yielding strains indoors. Created in Amsterdam, this strain was developed as a cross between landrace strains from Brazil and Southern India. Smokers love its euphoric effects but growers love its high production of buds and resin.
The Sour Diesel strain is another one that is both tall and high yielding, much like the Gold Leaf strain.
It is Sativa dominant, at 60%, with approximately 18% THC (as compared to the 21% of Gold Leaf). It also has a medium amount of CBD. This strain of marijuana can reach 71 inches in height, and its flowering period is a lengthy 68 days. You can, therefore, expect its yield to be extremely high.
The high doesn’t have the Sativa characteristic of making you feel paranoid — instead, it energizes the user, making them outgoing and social. It is used especially for anxiety, stress, chronic pain, and nausea.
Blue Dream is a well-known American high yield sativa strain cross between Blueberry and Haze. One of the most profitable cannabis strains for West Coast outdoor growers, Blue Dream quickly gained mass popularity across the nation. A very strong and fast growing plant, the hybrid vigor present in Blue Dream pushes the plants up quick with more stretch to come during flowering. Luckily, the branches fill in thick with budsYields of over 10 pounds per plant outdoors, this strain grows as big as a tree. Indoors it may be flowered early to stay more manageable.
The tastes and aroma of Blue Dream is smooth and sweet, very light on the lungs and straight to the dome. Effects are balanced speedy sativa high with indica body kick.
Northern Lights is another extremely high yielding strain of marijuana, but unlike the Gold Leaf strain, it does not grow to such massive heights. Instead, it reaches heights of between 39 and 51 inches tall, making it fairly average in size. It is almost entirely Indica, at 90%, and has a high density of THC (but not quite as high as Gold Leaf). Its yield is considered average to high, but when grown well (in a sunny, Mediterranean-like climate or an indoor one that is similar) then it can do really well.
Known as one of the original highest yielding strains, Big Bud is a combination of Skunk #1, Northern Lights, and Afghani strains. An indica dominant strain, this option has a bushy growth structure similar to that of other common indica strains. It can be grown indoors and outdoors, but is often regarded as the best indoor strain for yield and potency because outside, it can be prone to bud mold.
This plant absolutely thrives in heat and dry weather, and given those conditions, is one of the highest yielding plants. It produces huge buds that can barely hold themselves up along with sweet, subtle, hashy flavors. Watch out for the munchies with this strain of cannabis!
Zkittly Zi Zi or just Skittles, is an indica-dominant strain that erupts with Grapefruit flavor. Skittles combines the mental and physical effects of both parent strains to yield a smooth, multifaceted high. The trimmed buds have a characteristically indica structure, tight and densely-packed, with smallish leaves. Ready at the end of September with a production up to 2700 g/plant. Medium size, bushy plant, needs support.
Grande Crack has a classically indica bud structure, with dense buds that are more small and clustered than chunky. Grande Crack is a relatively easy strain to grow, and a good choice for newcomers to cultivation. It can flourish indoors or outdoors. It’s more easily grown indoors where conditions can be controlled. Grande Crack flowers relatively quickly for a sativa, reaching maturity between 7 and 8 weeks when grown inside and ready for harvest in October when grown outdoors. Ready at the end of October with a production up to 3500 g/plant. Tall size, branchy, bushy plant, needs support.
